TALC
Talc is a powdered native, hydrous magnesium silicate sometimes containing a small portion of aluminum silicate.
TALC is listed in the European Commission CosIng inventory under the functional categories Abrasive, Absorbent, Anticaking, Bulking, Opacifying, Skin Protecting, Slip Modifier, with CAS number 14807-96-6 and EC number 238-877-9. CosIng records a restriction against it (III/59), so check the corresponding Annex entry before formulating. In the free INCIDB sample it appears on 1 product label, reaching position 5 on powder touch. Fulton (1989) grades it 1 on the 0–5 comedogenicity scale; that grade is transcribed as-is and is the only rating source used.
